Security Best Practices

Overview: Employing the following best practices can help prevent fraud and keep your funds safe.

  • Strengthen the security of your account by using strong and unique passwords, and NEVER share your passwords.
  • If you’re using a shared computer, always sign out after each session.
  • Be wary of phishing emails. Phishing is the fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information or data such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by disguising oneself as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Fraudsters will frequently mimic the look of legitimate emails to trick users into clicking links. As a best practice, always check the URL to make sure you are logging into the appropriate website.
    • Phishing scams sometimes use similar website names to trap users into providing their login credentials to the fake site.
    • Navigate to https://www.forte.net/log-in/ and you will find the login links for the Dex/VT platforms. It is recommended that you bookmark the login link for future use.
  • Restrict unauthorized access by enabling IP Allow Lists.
  • Regularly check your account for any suspicious activity and act to quickly void or reverse suspicious transactions.
  • Set up notifications to alert you of any activity on your account. This feature is available to you with our Dex platform. Navigate to the Dex Help Guide for more information.
  • Install anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall software to protect your computer and mobile devices.
  • Visit the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency website for the latest Cybersecurity best practices.
